The main activities of the department are:

  • scientific substantiation of the system of medical care for patients with diseases of the digestive system based on the study of public health indicators, regulatory, resource provision of specialized services and the quality of medical care;
  • publication of the collection “Gastroenterology”;
  • organization and holding of scientific conferences;
  • introduction of scientific developments of the Institute in institutions of practical health care of different regions of Ukraine;
  • preparation for publication of monographs, practical manuals, methodical recommendations, information letters, innovations to the Information Bulletin of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, technologies for improving the diagnosis and treatment of digestive diseases;

  • експертиза науково-дослідних робіт і дисертацій на відповідність вимогам ДСТУ:
  • work of the scientific library of the Institute;

  • patent research;
  • metrological control.

An important component of scientific, organizational and methodological direction is the development of the basics of gastroenterological care for the population of Ukraine. For the first time, the Institute has established a gastroenterological service in our country, defined the principles of specialized medical care, developed new forms and methods of gastroenterological offices of outpatient clinics and departments of multidisciplinary hospitals.

Employees of the department carry out epidemiological analysis of the most socially significant diseases that form the structure of gastroenterological pathology, substantiates, develops and implements in practical health care new methods of diagnosis and treatment aimed at improving the quality of life of patients with digestive diseases.

The Institute is the founder of the collection of scientific works “Gastroenterology = Gastroenterology”, which is included in the List of scientific professional publications of Ukraine (Category “B”) and included in scientometric and specialized databases Ulrichsweb Global Serials Directory, WorldCat, Google Scholar, “Source”, NBU. . VI Vernadsky, CrossRef, International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), SHERPA / RoMEO, Bielefeld Academic Search Engine (BASE), Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine, ROAD, Open Academic Journals Index (OAJI), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), NLM -catalog, OpenAIRE. The collection is being prepared for inclusion in the scientometric database Web of science.

The collection is formed by employees of the department, published 4 times a year, circulation of 1,500 copies. Each issue is received free of charge by doctors of Ukraine: gastroenterologists, doctors of related specialties (general practice-family medicine, therapists, surgeons, endoscopists, sonologists, etc.).

Employees of the department take part in the organization and holding of scientific and practical conferences, including with international participation.

For 8 years in a row, the scientific sessions of the Institute of Gastroenterology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine have been traditionally held among doctors and scientists of our country. digestive organs and diseases associated with them.

Employees of the department implement scientific developments of the Institute in institutions of practical health care in different regions of Ukraine.

The department prepares and coordinates long-term agreements with 23 regional health departments, under which patients from all regions of Ukraine have the opportunity to receive highly specialized medical and diagnostic care.

The department is the coordinator of long-term scientific agreements on joint research with the institutions of the National Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Work is underway to meet the schedule of referral of patients to the Institute of Gastroenterology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine in accordance with agreements on medical-diagnostic and scientific cooperation with regional health departments.

The department coordinates information courses and internships for doctors and nurses.
